Book Momentum Builds

I’ve been so happy to see my book take on a life of its own. Three big things happened:

1. INC. MAGAZINE NAMED IT ONE OF “THIS YEAR’S 11 MUST-READ BOOKS FOR ENTREPRENEURS.”

The piece, written by Leigh Buchanan, said Pieri “is a master of both the broad strokes and the details: everything from how to think about Amazon to why UPC codes matter.”

2. IT WAS RECOMMENDED ALONGSIDE SOME TRULY EPIC BUSINESS BOOKS.

A staffing firm called 20Four7 just released a post called “25 Inspiring Books for Entrepreneurs.”  My book was listed as #1.  The author wrote, “How We Make Stuff Now is arguably the most fitting book to kickstart your reading list. As the title suggests, the book helps people turn their concepts into actual, profitable commodities. It’s a great read for people who have a promising business idea but have no clue how to build, package, or promote it into a sellable item.”

That statement and ranking were meaningful on  their own, but all the more stunning  to me when I saw the books that followed. They included masterpieces like:

  • “The Innovator’s Dilemma” by Clay Christensen

  • “The Hard Thing About Hard Things” by Ben Horowitz

  • “The Lean Startup” by Eric Ries

  • “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek.

Wow.

3. MCGRAW HILL BUSINESS IS RELEASING THE BOOK IN SPANISH.

It’s not a possibility I had considered and I can tell you it is a particularly out-of-body experience to see your name on the cover of a book you cannot read.

Some universities like Harvard and Babson have adopted the book in their entepreneurship courses. I’d really love to see more schools do that. I’ve heard from enough students as well as a whole range of founders to know it is a very accessible and useful book.

Grateful.
